My name is Yanixa. I am a Higher Achievement Scholar. I am from Honduras and moved to Baltimore, Maryland 3 years ago. I’m 12 years old and I’m in the 6th grade. I live at home with my mom, baby brother, aunt, uncle, two cousins, and my grandma.
I am silly, beautiful, and unique. I’m not perfect, but I am intelligent and I will help change the world.
When I grow up I want to be a biologist that studies diseases. I want to help find a cure for deadly diseases because I want to cure the people who are dying.
If I could change one thing about the world I would change the killing and stealing that takes place in my country. I want to help, but I can’t yet because I’m just a little kid. The police are corrupt, they are supposed to make it a better place but they are making it worse. I’m scared of what’s happening in the world and when I get older I want the power to help people.
Higher Achievement is a safe place for me. Before Higher Achievement my grades were down, I had C’s and I didn’t like it at all. Because of Higher Achievement, I have all A’s. At Higher Achievement I can talk about my problems and everyone cares about me. Higher Achievement doesn’t care what your culture is, what your race is, or where you came from – they care about how you are going to grow up, get good grades, and be inspired. Higher Achievement helps me look to the future and believe I will be a bright star.
