Federal and local funds supporting Higher Achievement are in jeopardy and the Baltimore City Public Schools system is facing a deficit not just this year but for years to come. Cuts could mean the loss of 1,000 teachers, which would lead to larger classroom sizes for our scholars. With less one-on-one support, these cuts would undoubtedly have a direct impact on our scholars during a critical point in their education.
We have a measurable impact on our scholars: 95% of Higher Achievement scholars complete high school on time that is 20% higher than the average graduation rates in our cities.
This year, our Baltimore scholars…
- Participated in Afterschool and Summer Academy, which is the equivalent of 100 extra days of academic support
- Advanced their math and English/Language Arts knowledge with the support of dedicated mentors
- Had life-changing experiences like visiting college for the first time, speaking in front of 300+ people at Love Out Loud, and going on incredible field trips exposing them to more career opportunities
We have to step up to support scholars in Baltimore City. Help Higher Achievement raise $15,000 by June 15th. We have to do more and be more for our scholars.
