“I speak out loud to the crowd.”

On March 14th, come out and celebrate the spirit of love with our Pittsburgh middle school scholars as they perform their original works of poetry. To give you a taste of this event, we are pleased to share a poem from the 2017 Love Out Loud.

I Love Being Me

Kennya T., 8th Grade
West End Scholar

I love being me.
I stand tall and proud,
I speak out loud to the crowd.
I am African American,
and will always be proud,
I will never change no matter what comes around,
I will never change because of the crowd.
I was born this way – nice and proud,
I love being me.
Why? Because it allows me to be free!
