DC Scholars Compete in Geo Challenge!

Last week, Higher Achievement held its seventh annual Geo Challenge at the World Bank.  Scholar finalists from the eight DC Metro achievement centers competed to win the title of Geo Challenge Champion.

After coming in first or second place in their centers’ Geo Challenge, scholars studied around the clock to prepare for the city-wide event. Scholar finalists attended a Saturday prep day to study with Higher Achievement volunteers, staff, and alumni.

Scholars answered geography questions focused on national, international, and local geography. Questions became more difficult as the competition progressed.

Fifth grade Brookland scholar, Byron, won the DC Metro Geo Challenge by correctly naming all the continents that border the Pacific Ocean during the final elimination round.

His family and both of his Higher Achievement mentors were there to cheer him on and celebrate his victory!
