Celebrating New Higher Achievement Scholars

Earlier this month Higher Achievement hosted a New Family Induction Ceremony in DC to officially welcome 300 new fifth and sixth grade scholars and families to our community. Over 50 families came to hear from alumni, alumni parents, and DC’s Executive Director, while also getting to meet their future achievement center staff.  Event speakers highlighted the tremendous impact Higher Achievement has on scholars, as well as, the importance of fully committing to the program. Ward 4 alumni Brandon Villatoro-Sorto explained, “When you are surrounded by people chasing greatness academically, socially, and mentally, it makes your path that much easier.”  After scholars and families recited the Higher Achievement pledge, the event concluded with a reception where scholars, families, and staff were able to celebrate their new adventure and begin to build lasting relationships.

Staff agreed, the highlight of the evening was witnessing how excited scholars and families were to be in the Higher Achievement Program and start Summer Academy.  As one staff member remarked, “Seeing their enthusiasm was exactly what I needed to start Summer Academy strong!”

To help these new scholars have an amazing Summer Academy, please donate to Higher Achievement.
