The Warner Theatre was the place to be Nov. 1, where Higher Achievement celebrated its 10th annual Going Places Gala! Here, Higher Achievement alumnus and one of the evening’s speakers, Ike Umez-Eronin, joins the evening’s honoree, The Education Trust’s Dr. John B. King, longtime Higher Achievement supporter, JBG Smith Board member Mitchell Schear and Higher Achievement CEO Lynsey Wood Jeffries.
Over the past decade, the gala has steadily grown to become one of the most inspiring celebrations in our city, honoring Higher Achievement scholars and the powerful community of champions that make their futures possible. Here, DLA Piper’s Jay Epstien joins Ballard Spahr’s Roger Winston, Nancy Epstien and Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer’s Michael Goodwin.
The theme for this year’s gala was “bridging the gap,” supporting the foundation for the bridges that Higher Achievement builds throughout communities every day. Here, JBG Smith’s Laurie Kramer is surrounded by BrandLinkDC’s Barbara Martin and Jayne Sandman.
Higher Achievement’s rigorous after-school and summer academic programs close the opportunity gap annually for 600 at-risk middle school kids. Here, Wilkes Artis Charter’s Sydney Guttmann, Rhett Tatum, Kevin Kozlowski and Daniel Grubb enjoying the gala reception following the program.
Susan Weiss and her husband, JBG Smith’s Michael Weiss, join WDG Architecture’s Jeff Morris.
JBG Smith’s Ernie Wittich, Neil Duncan and Steve Theriot.
