This year’s Baltimore Love Out Loud has a very special guest: Dr. Tim Tooten, from news channel WBAL! Dr. Tooten is Baltimore’s only full-time education reporter, and will serve as the emcee for Love Out Loud this year.
Imagine standing up in front of a crowd of 500 people and reciting an intensely personal love poem. Now, imagine doing that as a middle school student. That’s what 15 Baltimore middle school students will be doing on March 23rd at the MICA Brown Center. As you can imagine, middle school love runs the gamut: love of parents, love of learning, or – in the case of one poet last year – love of cheese. Love Out Loud gives students from across Baltimore a public speaking platform on which to build confidence and discover their voice.
“It takes a lot of research, creativity, skill, and – perhaps most importantly – courage to write and perform your original work of love poetry as a 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grader,” said Dr. Tooten. “I am excited to see the performances and am proud of our Baltimore students.”
This sort of creative expression shines brightly at the yearly Love Out Loud poetry performance. Get your tickets at https://www.bit.ly/lovebaltimore!
