Introducing 2 New Richmond Staff Members!

Sara Goode – Director of Programs

Sara Goode recently joined the Higher Achievement team, and the Richmond community, from Northern VA. Previously, Sara oversaw the health and wellness division of a large hospital system in the DC Metro area where her team touched over 100,000 lives annually through a wide range of services supporting multiple demographics. Sara’s career has always been rooted in the non-profit sector and has included roles with the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, American University, and a shelter for women and children in Philadelphia.  She serves as the Director of Programs for Higher Achievement.

Sara has a B.A. in Political Science from Mary Washington College and a Graduate Certificate in Non-profit Management from American University.  She is motivated by the idea of making meaningful, sustainable change within an organization to further the mission and impact of its work, ultimately improving our shared community.

Anj McClain – Manager of Development

Anj McClain received her B.S. from The University of Tennessee Chattanooga and has dedicated nearly 10 years of her career to nonprofit management.  In 2007, Anj established green|spaces, a green building nonprofit in Chattanooga, TN promoting regional sustainability, community development and low income energy efficient housing.

Anj is responsible for development efforts at Higher Achievement as well as brand management and communication.  She is on the board of Capital Region Land Conservancy and Project Yoga Richmond and is currently attending the University of Richmond for her master’s degree.
