Higher Achievement Launches 2007-2008 After School Academy
October 1, 2007- Today marked the first day of Higher Achievement’s 2007-2008 After School Academy. With five Achievement Centers across the Greater DC Region (in wards 1, 4, 6, 7 and Alexandria), Higher Achievement is continuing its 30 year history of changing lives through academic advancement, currently serving 400 students. “Our first day was exciting,” says Aishah Briscoe, third-year Center Director for the Ward 4 Achievement Center. “The scholars inspired new and returning mentors with their enthusiasm about the new year, and while I’ve seen our scholars grow and develop over time, I look forward to nurturing that growth even further this academy.”
In conjunction with the Summer Academy, Higher Achievement’s After School Academy is comprised of an additional 650 hours to the 900 hours that our scholars already spend in school. Higher Achievement provides homework help, electives and 2 hours of uninterrupted academic mentoring that focuses on math, literature and technology.
Higher Achievement’s After School Academy runs from now until May 1, 2008. If you or anyone you know is interested in mentoring talented young people, please click here for more information. Higher Achievement appreciates your interest in what we are doing, and encourages you to, “Be challenged. Be change.” |
